Veteran Pakistani actor Bushra Ansari has joined growing calls for the safe recovery of Pakistani sailors who have been held captive by Somali pirates since April 21. Through a video message shared on social media, the celebrated actress appealed to authorities to intensify efforts for the release of the mariners and ensure their safe return to their families.

Ansari expressed deep concern over the plight of the sailors, saying that many of them had gone to sea simply to earn a livelihood and support their loved ones. She noted that reports and videos circulating online highlighted the difficult conditions faced by the hostages, raising fears about their health, safety, and overall well-being.

The actor said she initially believed that rescue efforts had already succeeded, but later discovered that the sailors were still being held captive. She described the emotional impact of seeing family members, especially children, waiting anxiously for the return of their loved ones. According to Ansari, the uncertainty surrounding the sailors’ fate has caused significant distress for their families.

She urged the relevant authorities, including the Foreign Office, to continue pursuing all possible diplomatic and humanitarian channels to secure the hostages’ release. Ansari emphasized that the sailors were hardworking individuals who had not committed any wrongdoing and deserved urgent assistance.

The issue has attracted public attention in recent weeks. Eleven Pakistani sailors were among the crew members of MT Honour 25, a vessel hijacked by pirates near the Somali coast. Pakistani officials have stated that they remain in contact with the vessel’s owners as well as Somali authorities regarding rescue efforts.

Government representatives have reiterated their commitment to securing the release of the crew. Meanwhile, public figures and citizens continue to raise awareness about the sailors’ situation, hoping that international cooperation will lead to their safe and swift return home.
