Former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has openly criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following his resignation. He expressed disappointment over the handling of his assistant coach, Tim Nielsen, and the board’s lack of communication.

In an interview with Australian media, Gillespie revealed his frustration with the PCB’s decision not to extend Nielsen’s contract, accusing the board of poor management practices. He also highlighted the failure of the PCB to communicate effectively, particularly when it came to team selection.

“I chose not to tour South Africa because of Nielsen’s exclusion,” Gillespie stated, referencing his decision to step away from the tour in protest. The former Australian pacer went on to share his dissatisfaction with the selection process, revealing that he was often left in the dark about team selections, sometimes only learning the details a day before matches.

Despite his grievances with the PCB, Gillespie spoke positively about his relationship with the Pakistan team. He noted the strong camaraderie within the squad, highlighting that players had affectionately nicknamed Nielsen “Grandpa” due to the close rapport he shared with them.
The PCB has yet to respond to Gillespie’s comments, leaving his allegations unaddressed for now. The fallout from Gillespie’s departure raises further questions about the management and decision-making within Pakistan’s cricketing authorities.
