Pakistan Shifts Gas from CNG Sector

In an effort to address the ongoing electricity shortage, the government has decided to reallocate gas supplies from the CNG sector to the power sector.

According to officials in Islamabad, approximately 48 MMCFD (million cubic feet per day) of gas previously supplied to the CNG sector has been suspended.

This move has increased the gas allocation for the power sector from 108 MMCFD to 150 MMCFD, aiming to boost electricity generation across the country.

Despite the increase, authorities acknowledge that the power sector continues to face a significant gas shortfall, highlighting the severity of the energy crisis.

Under the revised gas load management plan, domestic consumers will be given priority during meal times to ensure uninterrupted supply for essential household needs.

The decision reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to balance limited energy resources while maintaining electricity production and public convenience.

Energy experts believe that while this temporary measure may provide some relief, long-term solutions are necessary to address structural issues in the energy sector.
