Major Terror Plot Foiled

A major terror plot targeting Karachi has been successfully thwarted by Pakistan’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies following a weeks-long surveillance-based, highly technical operation. Over 2,000 kilograms of explosive material was recovered, preventing a potentially catastrophic incident.

The breakthrough was announced in a press conference by Additional IG CTD Zulfiqar Larik and DIG CTD Captain (R) Ghulam Azfar Mahesar, who detailed the intelligence-driven mission executed in complete secrecy.

Officials revealed that after continuous monitoring, one terrorist was initially arrested, whose interrogation led to the arrest of two more operatives last night. The detained suspects have been identified as Jaleel Ahmed alias Fareed, Niaz Qadir alias King, and Hamdan alias Fareed.

According to CTD, the militants had rented a house 35 to 40 kilometers from Karachi to store and prepare explosives with plans to target civilian locations in the metropolitan city. The house was being used as a concealed operational hub.

During the raid, over 30 plastic drums and five metallic gas cylinders filled with explosive material were seized. The explosives were later safely defused in the Hub area. Initial investigation reveals that the material was transported from Afghanistan through Balochistan into Karachi.

Evidence also indicates that the network was being handled from neighboring countries, with links to Indian-backed proxy groups including the BLA and BLF. Authorities said the plot has ties to Bashir Zeb and the “Fitna-e-Hindustan” network, known for cross-border terrorism.

Security officials emphasized the need for stricter rental regulations, tighter monitoring of chemical sales, and vigilance against local facilitators. They reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism, stating that further arrests are expected and details will be disclosed as the investigation progresses.
