U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel after high-level talks. He said both sides agreed to pause fighting and begin steps toward a possible path to peace.
Trump shared the announcement on his social media platform Truth Social. He said he spoke with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He added that both leaders agreed to start the temporary ceasefire.
According to Trump, the ceasefire will begin at 5 PM U.S. time, which is 2 AM in Pakistan. He also said this agreement followed diplomatic talks held in Washington, where officials from both countries met after many years.

In addition, Trump said he instructed Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to support efforts for lasting peace. He claimed that this would be his tenth successful effort in stopping global conflicts during his leadership role.
Meanwhile, reports noted continued Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon during ceasefire efforts. These attacks caused civilian casualties and damage. Despite tensions, Trump said both Lebanon and Israel want peace, and he expects the ceasefire to develop into a longer agreement.
