Abdul Aleem Khan Orders Upgrades for M2 Motorway Rest Areas

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan visited multiple rest areas along the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2) on Monday. He personally checked the condition of facilities and spoke with travelers, including overseas Pakistanis, who praised improvements in travel amenities. The minister emphasized the importance of maintaining high-quality service standards across all motorway rest areas.
During his inspection, Abdul Aleem Khan observed rest houses, shops, and other amenities at several locations. He engaged with passengers to understand their concerns and expectations. Travelers appreciated ongoing upgrades and highlighted improvements in communication, food, and basic services at rest areas. The minister stressed that these facilities should be functional, comfortable, and safe for all motorists.
The minister instructed the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and National Highway Authority (NHA) to prepare a joint improvement plan within 15 days. The plan will focus on expanding rest areas, standardizing shop layouts, and ensuring the availability of food and drinks at fixed prices. He also stressed the need for consistent service and quality across all facilities.

Abdul Aleem Khan directed authorities to collect data on daily vehicle traffic along the M2. This information will help in planning expansions and improving rest area services. Officials will use the data to ensure rest areas can handle peak traffic efficiently and meet travelers’ needs effectively.
During his visit to Bhera Rest Area, several overseas Pakistanis thanked the minister for the upgrades. Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that rest areas should also be aesthetically pleasing, providing comfort and safety. Expanded facilities with decorated layouts aim to improve the overall travel experience for both domestic and international motorists.
