Rubio Praises Pakistan’s Support for Gaza Board of Peace

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday praised Pakistan’s role in Gaza peace efforts. He appreciated Pakistan’s support for President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan. He also welcomed Pakistan’s participation in the Gaza Board of Peace. Officials described the meeting as positive and constructive.

According to the US Department of State, Rubio met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Washington. During the meeting, Rubio thanked Pakistan for its continued cooperation. He acknowledged Pakistan as a founding member of the Board of Peace. He noted its presence at the inaugural session.

Meanwhile, Rubio expressed condolences over recent attacks in Pakistan. He condemned the January 31 attacks in Balochistan. He also expressed sorrow over the February 6 bomb blast in Islamabad. Furthermore, he reaffirmed the need for joint efforts against terrorism.
