Government Aims to Minimize Fuel Price Burden on Public, Says Finance Minister

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said the government is working to keep the burden of petroleum product prices on the public as low as possible while ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply across the country.

He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of a committee established to review petroleum product pricing and supply arrangements. The meeting reviewed the current status of fuel reserves, import arrangements, and supply chain logistics.

During the briefing, officials informed the committee about the availability of crude oil and refined petroleum product reserves in the country. Authorities said the existing stock levels were satisfactory and sufficient to meet upcoming demand.

Committee members were also informed about cargo vessels carrying oil that are currently en route to Pakistan. These shipments are expected to reach local ports soon and will help maintain a steady supply of fuel in the coming weeks.

The meeting also discussed the logistics of the petroleum supply chain and the efficiency of import operations. Officials noted that the distribution system is functioning smoothly and there is no immediate risk of fuel shortages.

Speaking on the occasion, the finance minister highlighted that global energy markets are currently experiencing significant volatility. However, he said proactive planning has helped maintain a stable supply situation in Pakistan.

The committee also reviewed recent developments in global crude oil and refined petroleum markets and discussed potential external scenarios and their possible impact on Pakistan’s economy.
