President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday witnessed the signing of one Joint Venture Agreement and two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistani and Chinese organisations aimed at strengthening cooperation in key development sectors, including construction machinery, animal health, and medical technology.

According to a Presidency statement, the agreements are designed to enhance practical collaboration and support long-term development goals under Pakistan-China economic cooperation frameworks.

The first MoU was signed between Al Hassan Trade Establishment, Sany International Development, and Hainan Jiaolong International Technology. The agreement focuses on high-end equipment, manufacturing, and construction machinery. It also supports projects linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), including supply chain development for construction equipment, establishment of professional training systems, and after-sales maintenance services.

The collaboration further includes plans to explore investment opportunities for setting up manufacturing facilities in Pakistan, with a focus on local production of construction machinery.

The second agreement was a Joint Venture between the Livestock & Fisheries Department of Sindh and China’s Luoyang Modern Biology Group. This partnership covers the supply of animal vaccines, including Foot-and-Mouth Disease vaccines. It also includes cooperation in biotechnology and the development of animal traceability systems in Pakistan.

The third MoU was signed between Dr Ziauddin Hospital and Shenzhen Weibang Technology. The agreement aims to develop cooperation in medical technology, particularly the use of intelligent medical robots in clinical healthcare. The initiative is designed to improve Pakistan’s healthcare system through innovative technology and integrated medical solutions.

The signing ceremony also featured the screening of a documentary highlighting 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship.

Several senior officials including Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi were present on the occasion.

The agreements reflect growing bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China across industrial, agricultural, and healthcare sectors.
