Punjab Orders Strict Action Against Overcharging Bus Fares Ahead of Eid

Lahore – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered strict action against transporters charging excessive fares during Eid. She emphasized protecting passengers from exploitation.
The chief minister directed authorities to ensure all districts strictly follow officially notified fare rates. Legal action will be taken against violators immediately.
She instructed deputy commissioners to closely monitor transport operations. Measures will be implemented to prevent ticket black marketing and overcharging of passengers.
Authorities have also been ordered to prominently display fare lists at all bus stands. This will ensure passengers are aware of approved rates.

Maryam Nawaz further instructed officials to arrange iftar for fasting passengers during Eid. Cleanliness at all bus terminals must be maintained at all times.
Waiting areas at bus stands should have proper seating and fans for passengers. The chief minister emphasized passenger comfort and safety.
She said poor passengers returning home for Eid must not be exploited. Continuous field inspections by the transport department will ensure compliance and public relief.
