Punjab development projects education review 2026-27

A high-level review meeting was held in Punjab on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to assess the performance of various departments and ongoing annual development schemes for the fiscal year 2026–27.

The meeting was chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb and attended by Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Industries Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, and senior officials from relevant departments.

During the briefing, officials were informed that 35% of construction work on Cadet College Multan has been completed. Progress was also reviewed on several education initiatives, including the World Bank-supported Quality of Education Programme and the Afternoon Schools Programme.

The senior minister directed authorities to ensure timely completion of all development projects. Discussions were also held on the construction of a hostel for Special Scouts on Lahore’s Abbott Road and an auditorium in Shahdara Town.

The meeting reviewed funding approvals for 37 education-related schemes as well as seven priority initiatives of the Chief Minister. These include the establishment of modern AI-based schools for both boys and girls across the province.

Other key initiatives discussed included the distribution of e-bikes for teachers and bicycles for students, the establishment of STEM laboratories in schools, and various technical and vocational training programmes aimed at improving youth skills.

Development progress in districts such as Kasur, Narowal, and Gujrat was also reviewed, particularly in relation to industrial and educational projects.

Additionally, the meeting examined multiple welfare and employment-oriented schemes, including “Easy Business,” “Easy Export,” youth employability programmes, and skill development initiatives for transgender persons.

Officials stated that the government’s reform agenda is continuing in line with the vision of the Chief Minister, with education reform and employment generation remaining top priorities for the provincial administration.
