A special central court on Tuesday granted interim pre-arrest bail to Rabia Imran, daughter of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and her husband Imran Yousaf in a money laundering case.

The couple appeared before the court along with their legal counsel. Judge Ashfaq Ahmed heard their petitions and approved interim bail, directing them to submit surety bonds. The court also restrained the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting them until May 7.

Earlier, an accountability court had suspended the perpetual arrest warrants issued against the couple in connection with alleged irregularities in the Punjab Saaf Pani Company case. The court had accepted their request to surrender and instructed them to appear again on May 5.

Perpetual arrest warrants had originally been issued against Rabia Imran and Imran Yousaf in 2021 and 2022. The case is linked to a reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and several others regarding alleged corruption in the Saaf Pani Company project.

However, the accountability court later approved acquittal pleas for the prime minister and other accused individuals in the same case.

The latest development provides temporary legal relief to the prime minister’s daughter and her husband, as the case continues to proceed through the courts.
