Iran Protests to UN Over US Seizure of Ships

Iran has formally protested to the United Nations following allegations that the United States seized Iranian-linked vessels in international waters.

Iran’s Ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, condemning the US actions as “maritime piracy.”

He stated that such actions amount to interference in international trade and illegal seizure of property, urging immediate steps to end the reported blockade and release the vessels.

The Iranian envoy also emphasized that Iran reserves the right to respond to what it considers unlawful actions under international law.

Meanwhile, Iranian military spokesperson Mohammad Akramnia said that despite any ceasefire understandings, Iran does not consider tensions fully resolved and continues to maintain military readiness.

According to reports, US naval forces remain active in the Arabian Sea, where inspections of vessels suspected of heading toward Iranian ports are ongoing.

The US Central Command has confirmed stopping and searching a ship named “Blue Star III,” and stated that dozens of vessels have been redirected as part of ongoing maritime security operations.

The situation highlights rising tensions in key global shipping routes and raises concerns about the stability of international trade corridors.
