BCCI IPL new rules security restrictions

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a strict directive to IPL teams following reported violations of the code of conduct, including concerns over the presence of unauthorised individuals in team environments and breaches of security protocols.

According to Indian media reports, the decision comes after the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit identified multiple irregularities during the ongoing IPL season. These include alleged violations of player and team conduct guidelines, prompting the board to circulate an eight-page directive to all franchises.

The new instructions take immediate effect and outline detailed protocols aimed at tightening security and discipline within team operations. One of the key measures includes a strict ban on the entry of unauthorised or unrelated individuals into team hotels. The directive states that any visitor must be approved through the team manager and can only meet players in designated areas, not in hotel rooms.

The BCCI has also restricted movement within team hotels, requiring players and officials to inform security and team management before leaving hotel premises. Additionally, franchise owners or their representatives will no longer be permitted to interact with players inside the team dugout.

The guidelines further emphasise adherence to established security protocols, with the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit warning teams against future violations. The board has reportedly taken a firm stance after observing repeated breaches, including concerns related to so-called “girlfriend culture” and the presence of non-essential personnel in team environments.

Another restriction included in the directive is a ban on vaping within team-controlled areas, as part of broader disciplinary measures.

The BCCI stated that any future violations will not be tolerated and could lead to strict disciplinary action. The move is aimed at maintaining professionalism, ensuring security compliance, and protecting the integrity of the tournament.

The directive highlights the board’s effort to reinforce discipline and standardise conduct across all IPL franchises.
