United States has announced a reward of up to $15 million for information about the financial mechanisms of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to international media reports.

The reward was announced under the US Department of State Rewards for Justice programme, which is designed to gather intelligence on organisations and individuals considered threats to US national security.

According to the announcement, Washington is seeking detailed information about how the IRGC finances its activities and transfers money and materials to groups and individuals linked to it. US authorities specifically want information regarding the methods used by the IRGC to support what it describes as terrorist organisations, proxy militias and affiliated partners operating in different regions.

The US government is also interested in identifying financial institutions, exchange companies and business entities allegedly facilitating transactions for the IRGC. Officials are looking for details about companies owned or controlled by the organisation, as well as networks used to bypass international sanctions.

International media reports said the latest move is part of broader US efforts to increase economic and political pressure on Iran amid ongoing tensions over regional security issues and negotiations related to sanctions and nuclear activities.

Washington believes disrupting the IRGC’s financial infrastructure could weaken its operational capabilities and limit support for allied groups across the Middle East.

The IRGC, a powerful branch of Iran’s armed forces, has been subject to US sanctions for years. The United States has repeatedly accused the organisation of supporting armed groups and destabilising activities in the region, allegations that Tehran has consistently denied.

The announcement comes at a time of heightened tensions between the two countries and ongoing diplomatic efforts surrounding regional conflicts and international security concerns.
