Lahore: A 135-member delegation from the American Punjabi Society landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Friday. The delegation, led by the society’s president, Garry Sikka, was warmly received by Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF).

The delegation, comprising Punjabi Americans with roots in Pakistan, aims to strengthen cultural and social ties between overseas Pakistanis and their homeland. Following arrival, the group was escorted to the Royal Swiss Hotel under Lahore Police’s security protocol.

At the airport, OPF Chairman Syed Qamar Raza expressed his delight in welcoming the delegation and emphasised the importance of fostering connections between the diaspora and Pakistan. “This visit is a testament to the love and commitment of overseas Pakistanis for their heritage and culture,” he said.

The visit includes a range of cultural and business engagements; the delegation is expected to explore investment opportunities, visit historic landmarks, and participate in cultural events during their stay in Lahore.

President of the American Punjabi Society, Garry Sikka, highlighted the group’s enthusiasm for reconnecting with their roots. “We are here to celebrate our shared heritage, promote cultural exchange, and explore ways to contribute to Pakistan’s progress,” he stated.
