Balochistan approves electric bike program for students, workers

QUETTA – The 21st meeting of the Balochistan provincial cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, approved key initiatives.The measures aim to promote public welfare, stimulate economic growth, and enhance governance across the province.
The cabinet expressed gratitude to the prime minister for supporting new communication and education projects in Balochistan.Officials said these projects will improve connectivity and access to quality education in remote areas of the province.
A major decision included an electric bike scheme to benefit students, working women, government employees, and the general public.The program will offer 30% subsidies and easy installment plans, operating through bank financing for all social segments.
To address healthcare concerns, the cabinet noted that Rs6–7 billion is spent annually on treating about 250,000 government employees.A comprehensive health insurance scheme was approved, alongside audits of advance medical payments and the Public Endowment Fund.

The cabinet also approved expanding the Enterprise Development Program to Gwadar, Kech, and Awaran districts.The initiative aims to create economic opportunities for youth and support local entrepreneurship in underserved regions.
Chief Minister Bugti stressed that good governance depends on merit-based appointments and transparent policies.He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to meritocracy, equitable resource distribution, and efficient public service delivery.
Officials concluded that these combined initiatives will improve citizens’ quality of life, create employment opportunities, and strengthen provincial governance.The cabinet called on all departments to ensure smooth implementation and monitor progress effectively.
