Complete Ban on Plastic Shopping Bags Imposed Across Sindh from Today

Karachi: The use, sale, and production of plastic shopping bags have been completely banned across Sindh starting today. Provincial Secretary for Environment, Agha Shah Nawaz, has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone violating this regulation.
Agha Shah Nawaz has directed all field teams, including district administrations, police, and Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) units, to launch an effective crackdown without delay. He emphasised that no leniency will be shown moving forward.
The Sindh government had provided a grace period to industries, wholesalers, and retailers involved in the plastic bag trade. That period has now officially ended. Agha Shah Nawaz has made it clear that all businesses must immediately cease the production and sale of plastic bags.
Authorities have announced that violators of the ban will face heavy fines, factory closures, and even arrests if necessary.
