Customs Raid on Tariq Road Karachi for Smuggled Goods

Customs officials carried out a raid on Tariq Road in Karachi during an operation for smuggled clothes and other goods. The raid was conducted based on secret information about the presence of illegal merchandise in the area. The action led to tension in the market as shopkeepers protested against the authorities.
According to sources, customs officers received intelligence that smuggled clothes and other illegal items were being stored and sold in shops on Tariq Road. Acting on this tip, a customs team arrived at the market and searched several stores and warehouses. Some goods were reportedly seized during the operation.

During the raid, shopkeepers resisted the action and staged a protest. Police were called to control the situation, and they resorted to baton charge and aerial firing to disperse the crowd. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Sources further said that a few shops were temporarily closed while customs officials continued checking the goods. Authorities stated that the operation was carried out according to the law and that an investigation is underway to identify those involved in smuggling activities.
