Dr. Yasmin Rashid Challenges Nawaz Sharif’s Election Victory in Supreme Court

Islamabad: Dr. Yasmin Rashid has approached the Supreme Court challenging the electoral victory of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, seeking to have the election tribunal’s decision set aside.
According to details, the petition has been filed against the ruling of the election tribunal, which dismissed her earlier challenge on technical grounds.
In the appeal, it has been argued that the tribunal failed to properly examine the facts and relevant legal provisions before rejecting the petition.
The plea further states that alleged alterations in Form 45 are contrary to constitutional requirements of transparency in the electoral process and warranted thorough judicial scrutiny.
It has also been contended that issuing notices to candidates before compiling final election results is a legal requirement, which was allegedly not fulfilled in this case.
The petitioner has requested the Supreme Court to nullify the tribunal’s decision and reassess the matter in accordance with law.
The case is being closely watched in political circles, as it is considered one of the significant post-election legal challenges arising from the recent general elections.
