Former Indian military officer praises Pakistan’s diplomatic role in Iran–US mediation

A former Indian military officer has acknowledged Pakistan’s growing diplomatic influence, praising its role in facilitating dialogue efforts between the United States and Iran amid ongoing regional tensions.
Retired Major General Yashpal Mor stated that Pakistan’s effective foreign policy and mediation efforts have gained international attention, crediting Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s leadership and strategic approach for strengthening the country’s diplomatic standing.
According to Mor, Pakistan maintained a balanced and neutral position during the recent conflict, which helped it earn the trust of both sides involved in the crisis. He noted that Islamabad’s approach focused on restraint and engagement rather than alignment with any specific bloc.

The former Indian officer further remarked that Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, including its engagement at international forums, has contributed to its emerging role as a facilitator of dialogue in sensitive geopolitical disputes.
He also referred to Pakistan’s official positions during the conflict, including its condemnation of strikes and calls for restraint at global platforms such as the United Nations, as examples of its effort to project neutrality and support peace.
Meanwhile, political debate in India has reportedly intensified over the country’s limited visible role in the evolving Middle East situation, with sections of the Indian media and analysts contrasting it with Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement.
Observers say such statements from retired foreign military officials highlight shifting regional perceptions and the increasing importance of diplomatic positioning in South Asia’s foreign policy landscape.
Pakistan’s recent involvement in facilitating discussions between global powers has been presented by its officials as part of a broader strategy to promote stability and reduce tensions in conflict-prone regions.
