Pir Mazhar Saeed Shah, a Pakistani participant in the Gaza Sumud Flotilla, has returned safely to Islamabad. He arrived from Doha and was warmly welcomed at the airport. His safe return brings some relief amid growing concerns for others still held. However, ex-Senator Mushtaq Ahmad remains in Israeli custody. Pakistan’s Foreign Office confirmed he is safe and in good health.

Efforts are ongoing to secure Senator Mushtaq Ahmad’s release. Pakistan is in contact with international partners and pressing for his freedom. The Foreign Office stressed its commitment to protecting the rights of detained citizens. Meanwhile, families and activists have called for stronger global support. The senator was part of a peaceful flotilla mission delivering aid to Gaza.

Israel has so far released 137 Sumud Flotilla activists, including 36 Turkish nationals. They were warmly received in Istanbul upon arrival. However, several Pakistani social workers remain detained. Concerns are rising over their safety and the treatment of detainees. Human rights groups are urging immediate action for their release.

Released activists have reported severe abuse during detention. They spoke of beatings, humiliation, and sleep deprivation by Israeli forces. Some said soldiers used dogs to intimidate them. Others described physical and psychological torture inside prison cells. “If we were treated this way, Palestinians must suffer even worse,” one activist said.

Turkish journalist Ersin Celik and others condemned Israel’s actions. Reports also claimed Greta Thunberg was dragged, beaten, and humiliated. Activists are now calling on the international community to act. They demand justice, accountability, and the immediate release of all detained volunteers. Pressure on Israel continues to mount as these testimonies spread.
