ISLAMABAD – The federal government has proposed major revisions to electricity tariffs and fixed charges for domestic consumers. The proposal affects both protected and non-protected households and has been submitted to NEPRA for review.
NEPRA will hold a hearing on February 10 to assess the proposed changes. The government recommends reducing tariffs for households using 301 to 700 units per month.
The plan introduces fixed charges for consumers using up to 300 units monthly. Protected households using up to 100 units would pay Rs200, while those using up to 200 units would pay Rs300.
Non-protected consumers would face Rs275 for 100 units, Rs300 for 200 units, and Rs350 for 300 units. Higher usage sees varying increases and decreases in fixed charges depending on monthly consumption.
The government also proposed reductions in electricity tariffs for domestic, commercial, and industrial users. Cuts range from Rs0.49 to Rs5 per unit, depending on usage and sector.
