Groom Disappears on Wedding Day in Karachi

KARACHI: A groom from Korangi’s Madina Colony, disappeared on his wedding day. His family fears he was kidnapped and reported him missing to Zaman Town police. Jahanzeb left his mobile phone at home and went to a salon but never arrived or returned. Authorities are investigating and will register a formal case soon.

Police said initial findings suggest Jahanzeb might have left on his own because he did not want to marry. The family remains worried as investigations continue. Officials confirmed he left home alone for the salon, and they are gathering more information.

Meanwhile, Karachi’s Additional Inspector General (AIG), Javed Alam Odho, announced a 32% decrease in serious crimes during the first eight months of 2025. Murder cases dropped by 30%, street crimes by 16%, robberies by 20%, and vehicle thefts by 9%. The police have made major progress in improving city safety.

Odho highlighted police operations led to the arrest of 2,452 suspects and the safe recovery of 62 abducted persons. During encounters, police arrested 611 criminals, killed 94, and injured 626. The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell arrested 62 car-lifting gangs and recovered 23 stolen vehicles.

The AIG credited enhanced policing, timely intelligence, and sustained operations for the crime decline. He assured that Karachi Police will continue strict enforcement to reduce street crimes further. Authorities remain focused on protecting citizens and improving security in the coming months.
