Pakistan vs Sri Lanka First ODI: Pakistan Win by 6 Runs

In an exciting contest, Pakistan vs Sri Lanka first ODI ended with Pakistan winning by 6 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The match was played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where Pakistan scored 299 runs in 50 overs. Sri Lanka fought hard but could only reach 293 runs in their chase of 300.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to field first. Pakistan’s openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub started the innings, but Saim was dismissed early after scoring only 6 runs. Fakhar made 32 before getting out, while captain Babar Azam added 29. Muhammad Rizwan could make just 5 runs as Pakistan lost early wickets.

After the early setbacks, Salman Ali Agha and Hussain Talat formed a strong partnership and took the score past 230 runs. Hussain Talat scored a fine 62 before getting out, while Salman Ali Agha remained unbeaten with a brilliant century, scoring 105 runs off 87 balls. In the final overs, Muhammad Nawaz played a quick cameo of 36 runs from 23 balls to take Pakistan to 299 for 5. Wanindu Hasaranga took 3 wickets for Sri Lanka.
Chasing 300, Sri Lanka started steadily but couldn’t maintain the required run rate. Wanindu Hasaranga top-scored with 59 runs, and Sadeera Samarawickrama contributed 39. Despite their efforts, Sri Lanka fell short by just 6 runs, finishing on 293 for 9 after 50 overs.

With this thrilling 6-run win in the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka first ODI, Pakistan lead the three-match series 1-0. Haris Rauf starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets, while Naseem Shah and Faheem Ashraf picked up 2 wickets each. The remaining matches of the ODI series will continue in Rawalpindi until November 15, followed by a tri-nation series featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe from November 17 to 29.
