How many suicides occurred in Lahore during 2025, detailed report

A total of 116 suicide cases were reported in Lahore during the year 2025, according to welfare and rescue officials. Out of these, 83 were men while 33 were women. Reports indicate that the majority of male victims took their lives due to economic pressure and poverty, while women mostly committed suicide due to domestic conflicts and relationship issues.
Monthly data reveals that 12 cases were reported in January, followed by 11 in February. The number dropped to 6 in March but rose again to 12 in April. May emerged as the most tragic month of the year, recording 17 suicides — 13 of them men.
In June, 8 cases were documented, while July saw 11 more suicides. The situation remained alarming in August with another 12 incidents, followed by 6 in September. October witnessed 8 suicides, most of whom were men.

Seven more individuals took their own lives in November, and December also recorded 7 suicides, including 5 men and 2 women. The annual data highlights that financial distress, domestic issues, and personal conflicts were the major contributing factors.
According to Edhi Foundation’s spokesperson, most cases were linked to ongoing household disputes or severe financial hardship. They emphasized the need for better access to mental health support and counseling for vulnerable individuals.
Experts warn that mental health challenges continue to grow across Lahore and the country. They stress the need for urgent governmental and community-level intervention to offer preventive support and reduce such tragic incidents.
