Illegal Afghan Nationals Involved in Crimes, Says DG ISPR

Islamabad —Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has stated that credible evidence proves illegal Afghan residents in Pakistan are involved in terrorism and serious criminal activities.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with a German magazine on September 5, 2025, the DG ISPR said that Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan refugees for over four decades and has taken systematic measures for their dignified return. He added that Pakistan has repeatedly extended the deadline for their repatriation on humanitarian grounds.
According to him, the primary reasons for Afghans seeking refuge in Pakistan were foreign interventions and civil war in Afghanistan. “Those conditions no longer exist,” he stressed, highlighting that the government is ensuring the orderly and respectful repatriation of Afghan nationals.
Observers believe the statement underscores Pakistan’s growing security concerns while also shaping the debate on the future of Afghan refugees and regional stability.
