PTI leaders denied meeting Imran Khan as govt defends jail treatment

Adiala Jail authorities once again denied permission to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to meet party founder Imran Khan on Thursday, as the government defended the medical treatment and custodial conditions of both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
Responding in the Senate to a point of order raised by PTI Parliamentary Leader Senator Ali Zafar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan said that both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were in judicial custody and their cases were being handled in accordance with court orders and jail rules.
He stated that both individuals had been convicted by courts and were currently under judicial custody, adding that matters related to their detention conditions had already been reviewed by higher judiciary forums, including the Islamabad High Court and the Supreme Court.
Rana Sanaullah further said that senior lawyer Salman Safdar, acting as a friend of the court, had visited the jail and submitted a report on the facilities and conditions provided to the PTI founder. He added that the report was consistent with findings submitted by the jail superintendent.

Regarding Bushra Bibi, the adviser said she was also in judicial custody and had been provided medical treatment whenever required. He insisted there was no negligence in her healthcare and that she had been shifted to hospital when necessary.
He further suggested that any concerns regarding custody conditions should be taken to the relevant courts, which were the appropriate forums to issue directions.
Meanwhile, PTI leaders, including Khurram Virk, Naseem Ali Shah, Zahir Shah, Rajab Abbasi, Zar Aalam, and Rubina Shaheen, arrived at Adiala Jail but were not allowed to meet Imran Khan despite waiting until the end of visiting hours.
PTI leaders expressed concern over the situation, alleging that court orders for meetings were not being implemented and warning that political tensions could escalate further if restrictions continued.
Separately, PTI also raised concerns over reports that Bushra Bibi was taken to hospital late at night without prior notification to her family or legal representatives.
