India Wins ICC Women’s World Cup for the First Time

India made history by winning the ICC Women’s World Cup for the first time after defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final held in Mumbai. It was a memorable moment for Indian women’s cricket, as the team showed great skill and teamwork to lift their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup trophy.
The final match began late due to rain, but the number of overs remained the same. South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first. India put up a strong total of 298 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs. Shafali Verma scored 87 runs, Deepti Sharma added 58, and Smriti Mandhana contributed 45 runs to the total.

For South Africa, Ayabonga Khaka was the best bowler, taking three wickets. Despite some tight bowling spells, India’s batters held their ground and built crucial partnerships that helped them reach a challenging total.
In reply, South Africa could only score 246 runs before being bowled out. Their captain, Laura Wolvaardt, fought hard with an impressive innings of 101 runs that included eleven fours and one six. Anneke Bosch supported with 35 runs, but their efforts were not enough. Deepti Sharma took four wickets, while Shafali Verma claimed two important dismissals.
