The Indian Premier League (IPL) is facing serious challenges as several star players have recently left the league, causing a decline in its brand value. According to media reports, IPL faces another major setback after star players leave, with the league’s overall brand value dropping by 20% in 2025 from $12 billion to $9.6 billion.

Reports indicate that the Mumbai Indians franchise saw its brand value decrease by 9%, now standing at $108 million. Similarly, other franchises have also suffered losses in their brand worth compared to last year.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore experienced a 10% decline, Chennai Super Kings dropped by 24%, and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s brand value fell by 34%. Rajasthan Royals also recorded a sharp decrease of 35% in their valuation.

The player departures include South African all-rounder Faf du Plessis, England’s Moeen Ali, and Australia’s Glenn Maxwell. Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali have opted to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) instead of the IPL this season, while Maxwell has also announced he will not participate.

The exit of these high-profile players has impacted team valuations and sponsorships, showing that IPL faces another major setback after star players leave and highlighting the league’s urgent need to stabilize its brand and attract top talent for future seasons.
