Islamabad Suicide Blast: UN Condemns Attack, Calls for Justice

The United Nations strongly condemned the Islamabad suicide blast and called for bringing those responsible for the terrorist act to justice. UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed deep sorrow over the attack, offered condolences to the victims’ families, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

In his statement, António Guterres said that the suicide attack in Islamabad was a tragic and unacceptable act of violence. He urged that a complete and transparent investigation be carried out and emphasized that those behind such acts of terrorism must face strict legal action.

The Secretary-General reaffirmed the United Nations’ support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism. He said that terrorist attacks are crimes against humanity and that the international community must work together to end such threats and ensure peace.

It should be noted that the Islamabad suicide blast occurred near the G-11 district court on Tuesday afternoon, killing 12 people and injuring several others. According to police, the attacker was riding a motorcycle and blew himself up near a police vehicle. The explosion set nearby cars on fire, and law enforcement agencies immediately sealed the area.

A UN spokesperson said that the Islamabad suicide blast was a tragic reminder of the need to hold terrorists accountable. The spokesperson added that the UN stands in solidarity with Pakistan and fully supports the country’s efforts to eliminate terrorism and promote peace.
