MULTAN – Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Ms Marilina Armellin, called Multan an emerging destination for trade and investment. She said South Punjab could benefit from Italian expertise in textiles, modern agriculture, and irrigation technologies. She emphasized that stronger ties between Pakistan and Italy would help both countries.
During her visit to the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), the ambassador highlighted Multan’s potential for business and investment. She noted Italy’s advanced expertise in textile machinery, packaging, agricultural technology, and irrigation systems. She said these sectors could significantly boost South Punjab’s agriculture and industry.
The ambassador also informed participants that Italy has opened a visa facilitation center in Multan. The center aims to promote trade and enhance people-to-people contacts. She also visited a special stall showcasing hand embroidery and purses. MCCI presented her an honorary shield, and the chamber gifted blue pottery and antique jewelry as souvenirs.

MCCI President Mian Bakhtawar Tanveer Sheikh welcomed the Italian envoy and highlighted South Punjab’s economic potential. He said the region is rich in agriculture and industry. Multan produces cotton, wheat, and oilseeds, and serves as a key hub for the textile sector.
He further emphasized Multan’s potential in pesticides, fertilizers, food manufacturing, poultry feed, blue pottery, camel skin products, and handicrafts. Both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral trade, investment, and cultural ties to benefit local businesses and communities.
