Kashmiri leadership praises Pakistan’s role in Iran-US ceasefire diplomacy

Political leaders and public voices in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir have expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in helping facilitate a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, describing the role as significant for regional and global peace.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said Pakistan played a “key role” in de-escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, adding that the situation could have escalated further without such mediation efforts. He noted that regional stability depends on continued dialogue and constructive engagement among all stakeholders.
Former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti also acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement, stating that efforts to pull the world back from the brink of conflict should be recognized and encouraged. She stressed that peace in the region requires sustained diplomatic initiatives rather than escalation.
Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq welcomed the reported developments and expressed hope that Pakistan’s peace-oriented diplomacy could positively influence other regional disputes as well. Similarly, Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi praised the ceasefire efforts, calling them an important step toward reducing tensions in an already volatile geopolitical environment.

In addition, sections of the Kashmiri public reportedly praised Pakistan’s military leadership, particularly Field Marshal Asim Munir, for what they described as a constructive role in supporting diplomatic engagement during the Iran-US tensions.
Observers note that Pakistan’s involvement in regional dialogue efforts reflects its growing diplomatic footprint in conflict resolution initiatives. Analysts say such engagement, if sustained, could help position Pakistan as a relevant stakeholder in broader Middle Eastern and South Asian stability discussions.
However, independent verification of the extent and nature of Pakistan’s mediation role remains limited, and official confirmations from all parties involved in the Iran-US ceasefire process have not been fully disclosed.
