DeepSeek Launches New AI Model V4 Pro

Chinese technology firm DeepSeek AI Model has officially introduced its latest artificial intelligence systems, DeepSeek V4 Pro and DeepSeek V4 Flash. The preview versions were released on April 24, signaling the company’s continued ambition to compete with major US tech giants like OpenAI and Google in the AI industry.
DeepSeek first gained global attention in January 2025 when it launched its R1 chatbot. The company claimed that the model was developed for under $6 million while offering performance comparable to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. That announcement reportedly shook global markets and intensified the AI competition between China and the United States.
The newly released DeepSeek V4 Pro adopts an open-source model, allowing developers worldwide to freely access and modify its source code. This approach reflects the company’s research-driven philosophy rather than a purely commercial strategy.
According to DeepSeek, the V4 Pro model has outperformed many open AI systems in mathematics and coding tasks. In general knowledge benchmarks, it reportedly trails only behind Google’s Gemini 3.1 Pro, a closed-source model. However, it remains slightly behind OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 and Gemini 3.1 Pro overall.
DeepSeek unveils low-cost AI model intensifying global tech race
The V4 Flash version offers faster response times and lower operational costs while maintaining similar capabilities to the Pro version. This makes it attractive for developers and businesses seeking affordable AI solutions.
DeepSeek was founded in May 2023 by Liang Wenfeng in Guangdong province. Funded by his hedge fund High-Flyer Capital, the company prioritizes research over short-term profits. Liang previously invested heavily in Nvidia GPUs, which later proved strategic amid US export restrictions on advanced chips.
Despite facing hardware limitations due to chip bans, DeepSeek has managed to establish itself as a serious contender in the global AI race. The launch of DeepSeek V4 Pro and Flash further strengthens China’s position in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape.
