PPP political system remarks Chan

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Secretary Information Nadeem Afzal Chan has said that the country’s political system cannot function without the PPP, warning against any efforts to sideline major political forces.

Speaking in an interview with ARY News on Thursday, Chan questioned the broader implications of excluding mainstream political parties from the system. Referring to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he said the party had already been “pushed out” of the political framework and asked how another major party could now be sidelined.

“You have already thrown PTI out of the system. How will you remove PPP too?” he remarked.

Chan said there were ongoing rumours about a possible 28th Constitutional Amendment, changes to the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, and proposals regarding the creation of new provinces. He did not provide evidence for these claims but said such discussions were circulating in political circles.

He stressed that PPP remained essential for political stability, particularly in provinces facing security and governance challenges. He pointed to worsening law and order conditions in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and argued that Sindh’s stability was linked to the party’s governance role.

“If you exclude PPP from the system, how will you control the situation in Sindh?” he asked.

Chan also alleged that the party had faced pressure from multiple state institutions over the years, including accountability bodies and segments of the judiciary. He further commented on governance issues in Punjab, claiming bureaucratic control had increased and raising concerns about administrative practices.

Discussing the broader national situation, he cited rising inflation, unemployment, and challenges in the agriculture sector. He also described the Crime Control Department (CCD) as a temporary measure rather than a long-term solution to security issues.

In political remarks, Chan suggested that PTI founder Imran Khan could be released within the year, adding that any resolution should come through political dialogue rather than a “deal.”
