karachi police investigate harassment incident in korangi area

Police in Karachi have launched an investigation into an alleged harassment incident reported from the Korangi area, officials said on Wednesday.
According to initial sources, the incident occurred a few days ago in Korangi No. 6, Sector 51-B. Law enforcement authorities said they have started reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area in an effort to identify and trace the suspect.
Police officials confirmed that an inquiry is underway, but noted that no formal complaint has yet been filed with the police station concerned. They added that legal proceedings, including registration of a case, will begin once an official complaint is submitted by the affected party or complainant.

Authorities further stated that efforts are ongoing to collect additional evidence and statements from potential witnesses in order to establish the facts of the case. The investigation remains at an early stage, and officials have not released further details regarding the identity of the suspect or the victim.
Separately, police highlighted past cases of harassment in Karachi, including an incident reported in October 2023 in the Saudabad area, where a private school principal was arrested on allegations of harassing female students. In that case, law enforcement acted after a complaint was filed by a victim’s family, leading to swift arrest and legal proceedings.
Officials reiterated that they take all harassment-related complaints seriously and encourage victims to report incidents promptly so that timely action can be taken under the law. They also stressed the importance of public cooperation in helping authorities ensure safety, particularly for women and children in urban areas.
Investigations into the latest Korangi case are continuing, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
