KP Government to Approve Three-Month Budget Until PTI Founder Meeting, Says Salman Akram Raja

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will not present its final budget until a meeting with the party’s founder takes place. He stated that the KP budget for three months will be approved as a temporary arrangement if the meeting does not occur before June 30. The decision is aimed at ensuring government affairs continue while the party awaits further guidance from its leadership.
Speaking to reporters on Adiala Road, Salman Akram Raja said he had already discussed the matter with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. According to Raja, the provincial government plans to pass a short-term budget document rather than a full-year financial plan at this stage.
He explained that the Constitution provides legal room for such a move. Referring to Article 125, Raja said that a provincial government can present and approve a budget for a limited period, allowing essential government functions and expenditures to continue without disruption.

Raja emphasized that PTI wants to consult its founder before finalizing the province’s annual budget. He said the party believes it is important to receive the founder’s input on major policy and financial decisions before moving ahead with a complete budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The PTI leader further stated that if a meeting with the party founder is not arranged by June 30, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will proceed with a temporary budget covering only three months. He reiterated that no final budget will be presented until the meeting takes place, making the KP budget for three months the province’s interim financial plan for the time being.
