KP Police Foil Terrorist Attack on Police Post in Bannu

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police successfully repelled a terrorist attack on the Dharey Pul police post in Bannu late last night, showcasing swift action and coordination.
According to a statement from the Central Police Office (CPO), a group of 18 to 19 armed attackers attempted a well-coordinated assault on the outpost. Some of the assailants arrived on eight motorcycles, while others approached the post by crawling in from various directions.
The attackers, identified as members of the militant group Fitna al-Khawarij, reportedly aimed to sabotage surveillance infrastructure, particularly targeting an IT camera installed at the post. They opened fire from multiple angles in an attempt to overwhelm the security personnel.
However, the prompt and forceful response from the stationed police personnel thwarted the attack, forcing the militants to retreat without inflicting damage or achieving their intended goals.
The successful defence comes at a time when security forces remain on high alert amid rising threats. It’s worth noting that the Pakistan Army has also reiterated its resolve to defeat foreign-backed elements working to destabilise regions like Balochistan, pledging to counter all hostile agendas with full force.
