In response to escalating smog levels, the Lahore district administration has issued a ban on outdoor activities, effective from November 11 to 17. According to ARY News, the decision comes as part of broader efforts to mitigate health risks associated with the severe air pollution enveloping the city.

A notification from the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore outlines the restrictions: all sports, exhibitions, events, and outdoor dining are suspended during this period. However, religious gatherings are exempt. Additionally, all shops, markets, and malls must close by 8 PM, with exceptions granted to medical stores, labs, petrol pumps, and grocery outlets. Large department stores are permitted to operate only their grocery and medical sections.

Authorities have announced that violations of these regulations will be penalised under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. In a public statement, Lahore’s Deputy Commissioner advised residents to limit outdoor exposure, use protective masks, and follow the guidelines to protect themselves during the smog episode.
