France seriously considering recognition of Palestinian State: Macron

Jakarta: French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that France is seriously considering the conditional recognition of a Palestinian state, calling it a moral responsibility.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Macron said:“ The situation in Gaza is alarming and that France may need to adopt a firmer stance on Israel if conditions do not improve.”
“Forced displacement of Palestinians is unacceptable,” Macron emphasised, adding that France maintains a consistent and unbiased Middle East policy.
President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s strong support for a two-state solution, calling it the only viable path to peace in the region.
Since October 2023, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed over 54,000 Palestinians, including many women and children.
