Punjab announces free transport for 17 underserved districts as part of a new public welfare initiative. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the decision during a high-level meeting. As a result, the government aims to improve mobility for citizens who currently lack access to public transportation.

During the meeting, officials also approved a pilot project in key cities including Gujranwala, Multan, and Sialkot. These pilot programs will test the effectiveness of free transport services. If successful, authorities plan to expand the initiative to other underserved districts across the province.

Meanwhile, officials presented a report on how rising oil prices impact transport fares. In addition, the meeting reviewed current prices of 23 essential food items, including vegetables and pulses. The briefing highlighted that Punjab maintains lower prices compared to other provinces, offering some relief to consumers.
