Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has praised the Crime Control Department (CCD) for maintaining peace across the province. Speaking at the passing-out parade of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) in Lahore, she called it an unprecedented achievement. She declared Punjab as a “zero-crime province” and saluted the police for their efforts. According to her, public safety has greatly improved in many districts. She said people can now leave their homes without fear.

Maryam Nawaz also introduced a new governance model she said is the first of its kind in Pakistan. She stated that the removal of encroachments from major markets has helped local businesses. This move also made public spaces cleaner and more accessible. She urged PERA officers to stay committed to public service. She expressed confidence in the officers’ ability to bring positive change across Punjab. The initiative is part of wider reforms under her leadership.

The Chief Minister specifically praised the police for lowering crime rates in high-risk districts. She noted that some areas once reported over 100 crimes daily. Now, those same places report no crime on certain days. Maryam credited this shift to the tireless work of CCD officers. She called their success “unmatched in Punjab’s history.” She also warned that crimes against women would face strict punishment under her government.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized her goal to make Punjab the safest place for women. She said anyone who disrespects women will face serious consequences. She added that the government is taking strong steps to protect vulnerable groups. Her vision includes equal safety for everyone, especially women, widows, and orphans. She said the province is now close to achieving this goal. Her message was clear: safety and justice are non-negotiable.

To further support this vision, she announced tough new laws against land grabbing. The laws will target those who seize land from widows and orphans. Special courts will handle such cases within 90 days. Offenders could face up to 10 years in prison. Maryam Nawaz promised that justice will be swift and fair. She said no one will be allowed to steal from the helpless ever again.
