Maryam Nawaz lauds Pakistan ceasefire role

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has praised Pakistan’s leadership for its role in facilitating a potential ceasefire between Iran and the United States, describing it as a historic diplomatic achievement.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, she paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir for their joint efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region.

Maryam Nawaz highlighted the leadership of Asim Munir, stating that under his command Pakistan demonstrated remarkable diplomatic balance at both regional and global levels. She said the coordinated efforts of the civilian and military leadership helped avert a major crisis and prevented potential large-scale destruction.

She further remarked that Pakistan’s role in promoting peace would be remembered prominently in history, adding that the country’s success in helping prevent conflict would be recorded as a defining moment. According to her, the recognition of Pakistan’s efforts at the international level is a matter of pride for the nation.

The chief minister emphasised that Pakistan’s diplomatic strategy has surprised the global community, showcasing its ability to play a constructive role in resolving complex international conflicts. She added that the country’s approach reflects a commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful resolution of disputes.

Looking ahead, Maryam Nawaz expressed confidence that Pakistan would continue to succeed in facilitating peace negotiations and contribute to preserving global stability. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening harmony and safeguarding shared global interests.
