A Grade 10 Biology examination paper was reportedly leaked in Karachi approximately 30 minutes before the official start of the exam, raising serious concerns over the integrity of the ongoing matriculation examinations.

According to reports, the paper circulating on social media included not only the original question paper but also suggested answers, which were widely shared among students ahead of the exam. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Board, where ninth and tenth-grade annual examinations are currently underway.

Despite repeated assurances by the examination authorities regarding strict monitoring and improved security arrangements, the latest leak has exposed significant lapses in the system. Students and parents expressed frustration over the recurring incidents, questioning the effectiveness of the board’s preventive measures.

Officials from the education board have yet to issue a detailed statement on the matter, while initial reports suggest that an internal investigation may be launched to identify those responsible for the breach. Authorities are also expected to review examination protocols and tighten security for upcoming papers.

This is not the first such incident during the ongoing exam season. Earlier, the Computer Studies paper for Grade 9 was also allegedly leaked during the morning shift, further undermining confidence in the examination process.

Education experts say repeated paper leaks not only damage the credibility of the assessment system but also unfairly disadvantage students who rely solely on preparation and academic effort. They have urged the authorities to introduce stronger digital monitoring, stricter enforcement, and accountability measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The situation has once again sparked debate over examination reforms and the urgent need to modernise Pakistan’s assessment systems to ensure fairness and transparency for all students.
