Mohsin Naqvi Hits Back at Modi’s Asia Cup Remarks

Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has issued a strong response to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments following the Asia Cup 2025 final.
Naqvi stated that linking cricket to war is against the spirit of sportsmanship and only reflects frustration on India’s part. He emphasized that history already records several humiliating defeats of India at Pakistan’s hands, and no cricket match can erase those facts.
If war was your measure of pride, history already records your humiliating defeats at Pakistan’s hands. No cricket match can rewrite that truth. Dragging war into sport only exposes desperation and disgraces the very spirit of the game https://t.co/lqiUATm3wX

He further noted that using military references in the context of sports exposes a lack of maturity and undermines the true essence of the game. According to him, cricket should remain a field of healthy competition, not a reminder of conflict.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had congratulated his team after the Asia Cup victory while making references to military operations, which sparked criticism from Pakistan’s cricket officials and analysts.
