Mohsin Naqvi Meets Saudi Minister to Promote Cricket

On Tuesday, Federal Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Saudi Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal. The meeting aimed to expand cricket in Saudi Arabia and strengthen bilateral sports cooperation between the two nations. This visit reflects the growing momentum in Pakistan–Saudi sports relations, particularly as Saudi Arabia accelerates its sports transformation under Vision 2030.
During the discussions, both parties outlined plans to promote cricket in the Kingdom. They also agreed to enhance institutional coordination between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with sports bodies in both countries set to increase collaboration in the coming months. The objective is to build a strong foundation for mutual growth in sports development.
Naqvi praised Prince Abdulaziz for his leadership in Saudi Arabia’s sports sector, emphasizing the country’s extraordinary steps to elevate its global sports presence. He highlighted Saudi Arabia’s rapid rise as a host for major international competitions, calling it a remarkable achievement. Naqvi also congratulated the Kingdom for securing the FIFA World Cup 2034 hosting rights, calling it a historic win for the region.
Naqvi stressed that sports, especially cricket, will serve as a powerful tool for building stronger ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the potential for this growing partnership to provide opportunities for athletes, coaches, and sports institutions in both countries. The goal is to create a platform for regional harmony and youth engagement.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen bilateral sports cooperation. Both countries agreed to work together to ensure that sports become a dynamic pillar of Pakistan–Saudi relations. This collaboration is expected to benefit both nations in terms of sports development, youth engagement, and international recognition.

During his visit, Naqvi observed the practice sessions of both the Pakistan and South African cricket teams. He interacted with Pakistan captain Shan Masood, team manager Naveed Akram Cheema, spinner Abrar Ahmed, Nauman Ali, and officials from the South African team.
The PCB chairman also discussed series-related preparations and logistical matters with players and management.
