NADRA Launches Nishan-e-Pakistan for Online Identity Verification

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new online identity verification system called “Nishan-e-Pakistan.” The system aims to modernize identity verification across government and regulated private sector institutions. It allows secure and authenticated verification through a single digital portal, replacing lengthy paperwork and repeated approvals.
NADRA officials said the initiative will particularly benefit banks, telecom companies, and financial institutions. These sectors have long relied on slow, manual verification processes. Now, registration, subscription, and access can be completed fully online. This change promises faster, more reliable, and efficient identity verification for both institutions and citizens.
The project is part of the government’s Digital Economy Enhancement Project, which aims to strengthen national digital infrastructure. It will accelerate service delivery across multiple sectors. NADRA stated that the system will improve security, transparency, and compliance with legal requirements. The initiative also ensures proper data protection while modernizing services.

Previously, citizens often had to visit NADRA offices multiple times and wait in long queues. Delays and errors sometimes caused applicants to return empty-handed. The new online system eliminates these challenges, making the process smoother, faster, and more convenient. Public confidence in digital services is expected to grow as a result.
NADRA believes that implementing “Nishan-e-Pakistan” will support the growth of Pakistan’s digital economy. The authority hopes the system will encourage more institutions and citizens to adopt digital services. Overall, the initiative marks a significant step toward fully digital, secure, and efficient identity verification nationwide.
