National Security Committee Issues Strong Statement in Response to India

ISLAMABAD: The National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has issued a formal statement rejecting India’s accusations regarding the Pahalgam incident and warning of a strong and fitting response to any Indian water or border misadventure.
According to the statement, Pakistan has deemed India’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty as a unilateral and illegal action. The committee also discussed suspending all bilateral agreements with India, including the historic Shimla Agreement.
Key decisions announced include:
- Immediate closure of the Wagah border.
- Suspension of all Indian transit through Pakistan.
- Cancellation of Indian visas issued under the SAARC visa scheme, except for Sikh pilgrims.
- Indian defence, air, and naval advisors declared persona non grata and ordered to leave Pakistan.
- The Indian High Commission staff in Pakistan will be limited to 30 members.
- Immediate suspension of Pakistani airspace for Indian airlines.
- Complete suspension of trade ties with India.
The NSC emphasised that Pakistan will not allow any compromise on its sovereignty, security, or national dignity. The statement condemned India’s occupation of Kashmir and its continuous violations of UN resolutions.
The National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, concluded with a firm decision that any misadventure by India will be met with a powerful and decisive response.
According to sources, the committee expressed satisfaction over the operational readiness of the country’s armed forces. The NSC categorically rejected all allegations made by India against Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam incident.
It was also decided to adopt recommendations by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to counter India’s water and diplomatic aggression. Pakistan will approach international forums over India’s violations of the Indus Waters Treaty.
An official statement from the National Security Committee is expected to be released shortly.
