A large influx of tourists is making its way to northern Pakistan, as the region is transformed into a winter wonderland following recent snowfall. The picturesque, snow-covered mountains and landscapes of Murree, Nathiagali, Ayubia, Swat, Kaghan, Naran, and surrounding areas provide the perfect setting for families and snow sports enthusiasts to enjoy moderate to heavy snowfall throughout the winter season.

The breathtaking beauty of these areas is further enhanced by the towering Hindu Kush, Karakoram, and Himalayan mountain ranges that stand upstream. Known for their snow-capped peaks, stunning natural beauty, and thrilling winter sports opportunities, these ranges offer a unique experience for tourists seeking adventure in the snow.

Swat, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Pakistan,” has emerged as a top destination for winter sports, particularly skiing. The valley’s Malam Jabba, a snow-covered paradise, is famous for its mesmerising beauty and receives an average annual snowfall of around 10 feet. Malam Jabba is considered one of the premier skiing locations in Pakistan, attracting skiing enthusiasts from across the country and beyond.

Tashfeen Haider, Director General (DG) of the KP Culture and Tourism Authority, shared that the skiing history of Malam Jabba dates back to 1962 when the first skiing competition was held there. Since then, the area has gained recognition as a key destination for snow sports, with facilities and infrastructure that cater to both amateur and professional skiers.
