OGRA fines Muzaffargarh petrol pump owner over fuel adulteration

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has imposed a fine on a petrol pump owner in Muzaffargarh after uncovering alleged fuel adulteration and illegal storage of petroleum products during a recent enforcement operation.
According to official details, OGRA fined the owner of Rana Filling Station Rs11 million as part of its ongoing nationwide crackdown against fuel mixing, adulteration, and unlawful hoarding. The action was initiated following a report aired by ARY News, which highlighted suspected illegal storage of petroleum products at the site.
In response, OGRA inspection teams carried out a raid on the premises, where they discovered more than 135,000 litres of petrol and diesel stored without the required licence. Authorities said the large-scale storage raised serious regulatory and safety concerns.
Subsequent laboratory testing of fuel samples confirmed the presence of harmful chemical substances in both petrol and diesel. Investigators found that petroleum products were allegedly being mixed with chemicals and then distributed to different locations, potentially posing risks to vehicle performance and public safety.
Following the findings, OGRA cancelled the petrol pump’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) and ordered the seizure of all machinery, equipment, and storage tanks present at the facility. The district administration has also been directed to take custody of the recovered petroleum products.
Officials further stated that the petrol pump was operating under a private oil company, and regulatory action will also be extended to the company involved. OGRA emphasized that strict enforcement measures are being taken to ensure fuel quality standards and to prevent practices that could harm consumers.
The authority reiterated that no leniency will be shown to individuals or entities involved in illegal fuel practices, warning that such violations can damage vehicles and pose broader public safety risks.
